Community arts enrichment and outreach: Public performances of plays and other art forms at community
theaters, as well as children's hospitals, senior centers and other places of need.
A means for bringing families together again: "Thank you for giving me my daughter back" (Katherine, mother);
"I've been leaving my parents out of my life. I'm gonna start talking to them again." (Lauren, 15)
A vital opportunity to build a better community by enriching the lives of our youth. By involving them in
positive self-expression and helping them realize their importance, Showdown teaches teens how to become more
productive members of society.
A way to deal with today's issues head-on. After Columbine and Virginia Tech, a shattered nation asked "how
could this happen? What can we do to keep it from happening again?" Showdown doesn't claim to have all the
answers, but we provide a safe and empowering place to ask the questions. Showdown students look at today's
issues and try to find answers.
